We’ve complained about lag in recent Windows 10 device reviews, but there is none of that here. It picks up smudges and fingerprints, but it’s not what we’d call a smudge magnet. The display supports the Surface Pen and up to 10 touch points. To be fair, glare can still present issues, but it never rendered the Pro 4 unusable. Its glass is just not as reflective, likely due to an optical bonding process. Some rugged tablets have absurd brightness levels to cut through glare, but the Surface Pro 4 keeps it reasonable. Also this Windows 10 tablet shrugs off glare better than just about any consumer device. It has none of the super saturation found in OLED displays (that actually look quite pleasant on smartphones and smaller tablets, but would just be too much on a device this size), and as a result, is easy on the eyes during extended use. Colors are startlingly accurate and balanced. Microsoft brands it a PixelSense display, and it’s one of the best on the market.īy just about any metric, it’s superb. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has a 12.3-inch display with a 2736 x 1824 resolution, which results in 267 pixels per inch. The Surface Pro 4 kickstand returns and is still one of its strongest design features. Judging how well the old Surface models we have in the office have held up with frequent abuse, we are confident the Pro 4 will handle the rigors of daily use very well. The Surface Pro 4 has the same magnesium build as its predecessors and it feels solid, with no flex. We’ve long claimed that Surface hardware is the best on the market, and that still stands. Like all Surfaces before it, it’s a remarkably well-built machine. 03 inches thinner than the Pro 3, and either. 33 inches and weighs either 1.69 (Core m3) or 1.73 (Core i) pounds, making it just. The Surface Pro 4 measures 11.5 x 7.93 x. We cannot discern any difference between this kickstand and the Pro 3’s, as both open to about 135 degrees and prove remarkable stable, even when resting on a lap. The nearly identical kickstand returns, with its fluid hinge, and it hides a microSD card slot underneath. That means that even a first-generation Touch Cover will function with the Surface Pro 4. The bottom edge houses the magnetic Surface keyboard and cover connector, which retains the same exact design as it did when the device line first debuted. Think of it as a quick “refresh” of the surface power connector. The Surface Pro 4 has a magnetic strip for the Surface Pen. So, long story short, if your Surface isn’t charging just try connecting the power source in the opposite direction.Īlso, once it “remembers how to charge itself,” you can reverse this and put the charger in the normal direction (just double-check that it still says charging). I found out that if I plugged my surface dock into the surface “upside down” it worked fine and charged as usual. Uninstalling and reinstalling power related devices via Device manager.Making sure devices, particularly under “Batteries”, were all updated. When I hovered over the battery indicator in the task bar, it told me it was “plugged in, not charging.” The nerve! It powered on when plugged in just fine but was at 0% battery and would, of course, instantly shut off when disconnected from AC power. Alas, I reached a day where I thought I was done with my Surface.
